Mooldhan is the Hindi word for “capital”. Within the context of rural development, Micro credit systems have grown in popularity as a tool for empowerment of the people.
It can be defined as the provision of parsimony, credit and other financial services and products of very small amount to people of low income in rural, semi-urban and urban areas for enabling them to raise their income levels and improve living standards.
A Micro credit and saving system started by the TGG Foundation with the participation of its self help group, social enterprises and the members of the trust on the 1st October 2016 with an aim to create the much needed seed capital for any startup activity have benefited the women engaged with Navajyothi (Kerala) to create sustainable livelihood. The biggest advantage of Mooldhan is that the loans are given on interest free basis which provides a great relief to these womens who are transforming from a labour to an entrepreneur .
The impact assessment of such loans provided are in progress and we will be able to share some very interesting success stories of people those who have benefited by this effort soon.
