a micro credit facility for self reliance
Mooldhan is the Hindi word for “capital”. Within the context of rural development, Micro credit systems have grown in popularity as a tool for empowerment of the people. It can be defined as the provision of parsimony, credit and other financial services and products of very small amount, given as short term loan to people of low income in rural, semi-urban and urban areas for enabling them to raise their income levels and improve living standards.
TGG Foundation has started this micro credit for short term lending to its members, SHGs, Social Enterprise, from the interest free loan received from The Golden Greens since 1st October 2016 with a 5 year moratorium to pack back. It aims to provide the much needed seed capital for establishing, upgrading and expanding commercial activities that can create and support sustainable livelihood in rural India. The biggest advantage of Mooldhan (a micro credit facility for self reliance) is that the loans are given on interest free basis for a period of one or two years based on the feasibility study conducted by professionals appointed by TGG Foundation and on their recommendation. It provides great relief to those people who are starting from ground zero.
The impact assessment of such loans provided in the last 3 years are in progress and we will be able to share some very interesting success stories of people those who have benefited through this initiative.
